Two ways to design in Canva from Rufusly: push an image or A+ banner from the app with text still editable, or bridge both MCP servers in your assistant.
Canva Workflows
Rufusly works with Canva in two ways. Use the in-app loop when you want to hand a specific image or banner to a designer, and the MCP recipe when you would rather drive both tools from an AI assistant.
Edit in Canva from the app
This feature is in early access. If you do not see it in your account yet, contact support to have it enabled.
Connect your Canva account
Go to Settings, open Connections, and connect Canva. Each person connects their own Canva account; there is no shared team token.
Push an image to Canva
Open an image in your Creative Library and choose Edit in Canva. Rufusly creates a Canva design from it and opens the Canva editor in a new tab. If your browser blocks the tab, allow pop-ups for Rufusly and try again.
For an A+ module, the same button appears in A+ Studio next to the planned module.
Your text stays editable
An A+ module is not sent to Canva as a flat picture. It is sent as an imported presentation slide, so every headline, body block and connector lands in Canva as a real text box you can retype, restyle and move. A flat image would have forced you back to Rufusly for a regeneration every time a word needed changing.
Bring the export back
When you have finished editing, use Return to Rufusly in Canva. The export is imported automatically and saved in your Creative Library as a new version, and you land back in the library looking at it.
If you closed the Canva tab instead, open the image in Rufusly and use Bring back from Canva to pull the export in manually.
Coming back to an image you have already pushed reopens the same Canva design rather than starting a new one, so your earlier edits are still there. Start a new Canva design is there for the times you really do want a fresh canvas; it leaves the previous design in your Canva account.
Send several at once
Select several images in the Creative Library and choose Send to Canva. Canva cannot put several images into one design, so Rufusly creates one design per image and gives you a list with a link to open each. Cards that have already been pushed carry a Canva badge, so you can see at a glance which images have a design waiting and which do not.
Design in Canva via MCP
Rufusly and Canva both run an MCP server. If your AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible client) is connected to both, you can move product content and designs between them without leaving the chat.
What you need
- Rufusly MCP connected to your AI assistant (see MCP Setup).
- Canva MCP connected too, at
mcp.canva.com/mcp. Follow Canva's own MCP setup instructions to authorise it.
Both servers can be connected to the same assistant at once, and the assistant can call tools on either as needed.
The recipe
- Ask for the brief. Tell your assistant which product you are working on and ask it to call
get_aplus_brief(sku or asin). This returns the product's title, bullets, description, brand name, and the exact A+ content module dimensions to design at, along with brief guidance on how to design the banners.
- Design in Canva. Ask the assistant to generate or edit a design in Canva at the sizes returned by the brief, for example the Premium Full Image module at 1464x600 desktop and 600x450 mobile. Keep banners text-free where possible and add headline text as an editable layer, then export as PNG at the exact dimensions.
- Save the export back to Rufusly. Once Canva has produced the export URL, ask the assistant to call
save_image_from_urlwith that URL (and optionally the sku or asin) to store it in your Rufusly Creative Library.
That is the full loop: content out of Rufusly, design in Canva, finished asset back into Rufusly, ready to attach to your A+ content.

get_aplus_briefandsave_image_from_urlcost no credits. Frequently asked questions
How do I connect Canva to Rufusly?
Go to Settings and open Connections, then connect Canva. Every user authorises their own Canva account, so there is no shared team login. The in-app Canva loop is in early access, so contact support if you do not see the option.
Does text stay editable when Rufusly sends a design to Canva?

No. Pushing an image to Canva, reopening a design and importing the export cost no Rufusly credits, and neither do the MCP tools get_aplus_brief and save_image_from_url. Any Canva credits used are spent in your own Canva account.
Is Rufusly a Canva product?
No. Rufusly works with Canva through the Canva connection and the Canva MCP server, but it is an independent product and is not made or endorsed by Canva.
