Create Amazon A+ Content Banners Sized to Spec

August 26, 2026·7 min read

Amazon A+ Content replaces the plain text product description with a visual layout of banners, comparison tables, and lifestyle imagery. The hard part is not writing the copy. It is getting seven banners to land at Amazon's exact pixel dimensions with text that is sharp, correctly spelled, and positioned where you intended. Most sellers either pay an agency or wrestle with Photoshop templates that were built for a different product.

Rufusly's A+ Studio handles the three jobs that make this slow: planning which modules to use and what each one should say, generating photographic backgrounds at the right dimensions, and compositing text as crisp vector layers so the result is ready to paste into Seller Central. For a deeper look at why A+ matters and what makes a strong module set, see our A+ Content best practices guide.

How the design director plans your modules

The design director reads your product listing (title, bullets, description, brand name, and accent colour) and plans a set of seven Premium modules in a fixed sequence: hero banner, brand story, USP strip, comparison checklist, journey, feature spotlight, and social proof. For each module it decides the background type (a product photograph or a flat branded colour), the text block positions, font sizes, and the copy itself.

Every headline and paragraph is grounded in what your listing actually says. The director will not invent claims that are not in your bullets or description, and it applies your brand's compliance profile automatically. If your brand prohibits certain words or phrases, they will not appear in the A+ copy either.

Planning the module set uses one listing credit. The credit is refunded if generation fails outright, but not if the model runs and the output is unusable.

Why text is composited, not generated

Image generation models draw text poorly: letters come out warped, misspelled, or inconsistently sized. Every A+ banner has headlines and body copy that a customer will read at full resolution on a product page, so garbled text is not acceptable.

Rufusly separates the two jobs entirely. The image model generates a text-free photographic background. Then a compositor builds a vector text overlay (headlines, body paragraphs, comparison tables, badges) and layers it on top of the photograph at the exact pixel dimensions Amazon requires.

The compositor handles text wrapping, line clamping with ellipsis for overflow, translucent text panels for readability over busy backgrounds, and comparison tables with tick and cross marks. All of this runs server-side with no AI cost. Rendering the final composited banner is free after the initial image generation.

Exact Amazon dimensions, no resizing

Amazon specifies exact pixel dimensions for each A+ module type. Upload an image at the wrong size and Amazon either rejects it or scales it with visible artefacts. Rufusly outputs at the target size from the start.

  • Premium modules: 1464 by 600 pixels on desktop, 600 by 450 on mobile. Maximum file size 5 MB.
  • Standard modules: 970 by 600 pixels on desktop, 600 by 450 on mobile. Maximum file size 2 MB.

Rufusly renders each module as a JPEG at quality 90, which keeps the file size well within Amazon's limits while preserving detail in gradients and photographic backgrounds.

Editable text via PPTX export

A flat image is finished. If the headline needs a word changed, you re-render the whole thing. Rufusly avoids this by exporting each module as a PPTX file where every text block is a real, editable text box sitting on top of the background image.

If your Canva account is connected, the PPTX opens directly in Canva's editor. You can retype any headline, adjust body copy, or edit comparison table cells without touching the photographic background underneath. Shapes like measurement lines, arrows, and step number badges are also editable PowerPoint primitives, not baked into the image.

To fine-tune: generate the full set, review the seven modules, then open any that need a copy tweak in Canva. See the A+ Studio documentation for setup details.

Font limitation

Exported text uses Arial by default. Canva substitutes its own version of the font on import. Brand-specific fonts require Canva Brand Kit access, which is not currently available through the integration.

What the design director decides for each module

Each of the seven modules gets a structured specification:

  • Module kind: hero banner, brand story, USP strip, comparison checklist, journey, feature spotlight, or social proof.
  • Background type: a product photograph (generated text-free by the image model) or a flat colour from your brand palette.
  • Text blocks: positioned with fractional coordinates (0 to 1 on both axes), so the layout adapts precisely to both desktop and mobile canvas sizes.
  • Comparison tables: up to four columns and eight rows. The director strips competitor brand names automatically to comply with Amazon's A+ Content policies.
  • Photography brief: for modules with a photo background, the director writes a text-free photography brief describing the shot, angle, and lighting. This brief is what the image model receives.

Content limits

The design director works within enforced limits that match what renders well on Amazon's A+ module sizes:

  • Maximum 7 modules per plan.
  • Headlines capped at 80 characters.
  • Body paragraphs capped at 400 characters.
  • Maximum 14 text blocks per module.
  • Comparison tables: maximum 4 columns and 8 rows.

These are not arbitrary. At the font size the compositor uses, 80 characters fill a Premium banner headline zone cleanly. A 400-character body paragraph wraps to roughly six lines, which is about as much as a customer will read on a single module before scrolling.

What A+ Studio does not do

Amazon does not offer an API endpoint for uploading Premium A+ Content. Rufusly exports a pack of images at the exact required dimensions, but the final upload happens manually through the A+ Content Manager in Seller Central. This is an Amazon limitation, not a Rufusly one.

The A+ Studio is also in early access. If you do not see it in your account yet, email support@rufusly.ai to have it switched on.

Frequently asked questions

What Amazon A+ Content module sizes does Rufusly support?

Rufusly supports four module specifications. Premium modules render at 1464 by 600 pixels on desktop and 600 by 450 on mobile (up to 5 MB). Standard modules render at 970 by 600 on desktop and 600 by 450 on mobile (up to 2 MB). The compositor outputs at the exact pixel dimensions Amazon requires, so you never need to resize or crop after export.

How does Rufusly handle text on A+ Content banners?

Text is never drawn by the image generation model. Rufusly generates a text-free photographic background, then composites headlines, body copy, and table cells as vector text layers on top. This means every character is sharp, spelled correctly, and positioned exactly where the design director placed it.

Can I edit the text on A+ banners after they are generated?

Yes. Rufusly exports each module as a PPTX file where every text block is a real editable text box. Open it in Canva (if your Canva account is connected) and retype any headline, body paragraph, or table cell directly. The background image stays intact underneath.

How much does it cost to create an A+ Content set in Rufusly?

Planning the seven-module set uses one listing credit. Each photographic background uses one image credit. Rendering the final composited banners (layering text over the backgrounds) costs nothing. A full Premium A+ set typically uses one listing credit and up to seven image credits.

Can Rufusly upload A+ Content directly to Amazon?

Not for Premium content. Amazon does not support uploading Premium A+ Content through the SP-API. Rufusly exports a ready-to-paste image pack at the exact pixel dimensions Amazon requires. You upload the images manually through the A+ Content Manager in Seller Central.

Does the A+ design director use my actual product listing?

Yes. The design director reads your product title, bullet points, description, brand name, and accent colour before planning any modules. Every headline and body paragraph is grounded in what your listing actually says, not generic placeholder copy.
